Work/Life balance is a great idea, however there is not a tried and true method for achieving this. Everyone is different with different needs and priorities and you will need to determine what is important. Whether you have a family, or are married or single impacts your priorities. Many companies help parents to flex their time – perhaps coming in after the children are off to school and then going home, getting dinner, spending time with the family and then getting back on-line to work from home after the children are in bed.
Keep from being distracted and stressed by following a few simple rules:
Schedule your work time – when you need to focus on tasks.
Schedule your downtime also – plan to do something you enjoy every day, even if it is just a few minutes – exercising, reading, or meditating.
Learn to say no – don’t feel pressured to do things that you do not enjoy.
Take advantage of some of the new time-saving apps that are available – organizers, reminders, financial apps, etc.
Try to keep some time free, even if you need to work a few evenings or sometime over the weekend. Find what works for you and your family in order to have more satisfying, enjoyable life.
